Juan Fernandez de la Mora is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Yale University. His research focuses on fluid mechanics, ion-induced nucleation, and electrified interfaces, with significant contributions to aerosol science and mass spectrometry instrumentation. He holds appointments at the Yale DMS-MS Facility and has authored seminal work on electrospray technology and nanoaerosol analysis.
Education: PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University; B.S. in Engineering from Polytechnical University, Madrid.
Research interests include Taylor cone dynamics, electrospray applications in propulsion and diagnostics, and real-time vapor analysis for environmental and biomedical applications. His lab develops novel experimental techniques for nanoparticle characterization and high-resolution mobility analysis.
Key achievements include the Fuchs Memorial Award (2022) and Sinclair Award (2006), recognizing his contributions to aerosol science. His work bridges fundamental fluid dynamics with cutting-edge instrumentation, with patents on ion mobility separators and vapor detection systems.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Yale DMS-MS Facility specializing in advanced aerosol measurement technologies. Collaborates internationally on projects funded by NSF, NASA, and industry partners.
