Juan Carlos Matos Franco

Juan Carlos Matos Franco serves as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the University of Salamanca, specializing in Computer Languages and Systems while actively contributing to the GIFIE Research Group on Fracture and Structural Integrity.

He completed his PhD at the University of Salamanca in 2008 with the dissertation "Initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks in prestressing steel wires," supervised by Dr. Jesús Andrés Toribio Quevedo. This foundational work established his expertise in computational materials engineering.

His research integrates computer science methodologies with structural mechanics, focusing on fatigue crack propagation, fracture analysis, and structural integrity assessment. This interdisciplinary approach bridges algorithmic systems development with real-world engineering failure prediction, particularly in metallic materials under stress.

As a core member of the GIFIE Research Group, he collaborates on projects analyzing material degradation and structural safety, leveraging computational models to simulate fracture scenarios in industrial applications.
