Dr. Juan Carlos Castro is Professor and former Chair of Art Education at Concordia University. His research investigates how young people use digital visual networks to support creative practice, with emphasis on mobile media, identity formation, and civic engagement. He previously served as Chair of the National Art Education Association Research Commission (2018-2020).

- Social justice through art education
- Digital visual literacy development
Dr. Castro has received numerous awards including the National Higher Education Art Educator Award (2022) and Presidential Scholars Teacher Recognition Award. He has authored books on mobile media in art education and edited volumes on youth cultural practices.
