Juan Arredondo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media at Rutgers University–Newark. As a Colombian American documentary photographer, his work focuses on human rights and conflict documentation across Colombia, Venezuela, and Central America. He contributes regularly to The New York Times and National Geographic, with imagery also featured in The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, and Vanity Fair.

His research interests center on visual storytelling in conflict zones, including the use of child soldiers by illegal armed groups in Colombia, the Colombian government-FARC peace agreement, and post-conflict reintegration. His work has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the World Press Photo (2018) and the Nieman Fellowship at Harvard (2018-2019).
