Joëlle Margot

Joëlle Margot is a Full Professor at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Arts and Science, University of Montreal. She leads Plasma-Québec and specializes in cold plasma applications for thin film patterning and material science. Her research integrates both fundamental and applied studies, using laser diagnostics and plasma modeling.

Education: PhD in Physics (1989).

Research Focus: Cold plasma applications, laser-induced plasma characterization, high-frequency RF plasmas, and nanoscale material synthesis. Projects include developing plasma tools for photonics and RF devices, and strategic initiatives like Plasma-Québec.

Grants & Projects: Multiple NSERC and FRQNT-funded projects (e.g., RF plasmas for nanomaterials, Smart-DVD project). Active in interdisciplinary collaborations across Quebec and Canada.

Teaching: Courses include PHY-2476 (Experimental Physics) and PHY-6460 (Plasma Diagnostics). Supervised over 20 PhD and MSc students since 1996, focusing on plasma-material interactions and thin film technologies.
