معرفی
Joël Lyskawa is a Professor at the University of Lille, affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Chemistry, and a team leader in the Polymer Systems Engineering group within the Materials and Transformations Unit (UMET, CNRS UMR 8207). His research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of supramolecular polymers and the development of advanced biomaterials for therapeutic applications.
His research interests span supramolecular polymers, stimuli-responsive hydrogels, biomaterials for drug delivery, bio-inspired adhesives, and dopamine-based functional coatings. These interests are deeply rooted in polymer chemistry, materials science, and biomedical engineering, with applications in wound healing, bone fixation, and vascular stents. His work integrates organic synthesis, polymer characterization, and biological evaluation to design intelligent, responsive materials.
The recent publications of Joël Lyskawa highlight a strong trend in stimuli-responsive polymer systems, particularly those based on host-guest chemistry and catechol-functionalized polymers. His work explores thermoresponsive membranes, self-oscillating materials, piezoelectric composites, and supramolecular hydrogels with tunable properties. These studies aim to create smart, adaptive materials for biomedical and environmental applications, often in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
Joël Lyskawa has supervised multiple PhD students, including Roa Bouhamad, Mélanie Girardot, Cédric Ribeiro, Sarah Defrancois, Schlund Matthias, and William Laure. His research has been supported by collaborative projects and access to advanced experimental platforms like the Chevreul Institute’s high-pressure platform and the Lille Electron Microscopy Platform (PMEL). He has also contributed to patents on bone adhesives and drug-eluting stent coatings, demonstrating translational impact.
He teaches organic chemistry and analytical methods at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels at the University of Lille. His scientific contributions are regularly published in high-impact journals such as Polymer, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Chemistry – A European Journal, and Membranes. He has also delivered invited seminars on dopamine-based materials and biomimetic design, reflecting his expertise in bio-inspired materials engineering.
