João Guilherme Costa

João Guilherme Costa is an Assistant Professor at the School of Health Sciences and Technologies (ECTS), Lusófona University, since 2013. His expertise spans Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Oxidative Stress, with a focus on cancer research and drug delivery systems. He is a researcher at CBIOS and collaborator of iMed.UL-FFUL, and serves on multiple ethics and scientific councils.

• Integrated Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences (University of Lisbon, 2008)
• Specialization in Quality Control and Food Toxicology (University of Lisbon, 2013)

His research explores redox-active compounds and ionic liquids for anticancer therapies, with over 35 journal articles and 4 book chapters. Recent work includes HER2+ breast cancer treatment optimization and the impact of dietary bioactives on renal cancer cells.

João has received 15 scientific awards and actively mentors researchers, currently supervising 1 PhD and 5 MPharm projects. He is an editorial board member of Foods and contributes to scientific event organization.
