João Ferreira

João Ferreira is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Biotechnology, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and a Researcher at the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF). He coordinates the ERASMUS+ program and previously led the MSc program in Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on biotechnological engineering applications in health and food sectors, including hydrocolloids, micro/nanoemulsions, and dairy technology.

Education: PhD in Biological and Medical Sciences (1998).

Research interests span bio/macromolecule interactions, controlled-release systems, and industrial process energetics. He leads projects like VIIAFOOD (food innovation) and BioShoes4All (bioeconomy).

Recent publications emphasize hemodialysis applications of chitosan and fluid dynamics studies. His work bridges academic research with industrial collaboration.
