Prof. Jozef Džuka is a Full Professor at the University of Presov, Faculty of Arts, leading the Department of Psychology within the Institute of Psychology. He holds a PhD (CSc.) from Comenius University (1991), habilitation from Masaryk University (1999), and was inaugurated as Professor in 2008. His career includes roles as Assistant and Associate Professor at Presov University and prior positions at P.J. Šafárik University in Košice. He has conducted research stays at the University of Linz (Austria) under a Lise-Meitner Scholarship and at the University of Kaiserslautern (Germany) through the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
His research focuses on subjective well-being, school violence, and the belief in a just world as a coping strategy. He has pioneered studies on dynamic intelligence diagnosis in disadvantaged children and validated methodologies for assessing quality of life. His work spans cross-cultural comparisons and psychometric instrument development.
Key contributions include over 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, with notable works on Slovak subjective well-being (Springer, 2015) and the psychometric properties of quality-of-life tools. He has led international projects on youth unemployment and intercultural well-being comparisons.
