Joyce Rudinsky

Joyce Rudinsky is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she explores the intersection of digital/interactive media and contemporary experience. She holds a BFA from the University of New Mexico and an MFA from the University of Washington.

Her research investigates how information technology reshapes cognitive experience, sensory perception, and societal navigation. As an academic artist, she leverages tenure to experiment beyond art market constraints, questioning technology’s role in redefining human identity and social structures. Her 2005 College Art Association presentation outlined four visual culture shifts: convergence of art/entertainment/information, sensory overload expectations, new narrative forms, and real-time experience demands.
