Joyce Chen is a Professor in the Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies at The Ohio State University, with a joint appointment in the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University (2006) and a B.A. in Economics from Brown University (1999). Her research focuses on migration, household bargaining, and the impact of climate change on economic development, particularly in Bangladesh and Pakistan. She has held leadership roles, including Director of Graduate Studies in her department and Faculty Fellow at The Ohio State University's Women’s Place.

She has also conducted groundbreaking research on reducing implicit bias in student evaluations and addressing gender disparities in academic salaries.
