Joy Logan is a Professor of Latin American literature and cultural studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, serving as Graduate Chair for the Spanish MA and Advisor for the Latin American and Iberian Studies (LAIS) Minor. Her research focuses on gender/ethnic identity, the anthropology of adventure, and environmental narratives in the Southern Cone. She has conducted fieldwork in central-west Argentina on mountaineering and water management conflicts.
Prof. Logan’s work includes Aconcagua: The Invention of Mountaineering on America’s Highest Peak (2011) and recent studies on Mendoza’s wine region. She teaches courses such as LAIS 120 Islands, Islas, Ilhas & Global Exchange and SPAN 478 Hispanic Women’s Literature.
