José Fortes is a Professor and AT&T Eminent Scholar at the University of Florida's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He directs the Advanced Computing and Information Systems (ACIS) Laboratory and leads major NSF-funded initiatives, including iDigBio and CENTRA. His research focuses on distributed systems, cloud computing, and autonomic computing, with applications in e-Science and digital government.
