Josiah Balota

Josiah Balota is a Lecturer in Computer Science at Teesside University's Department of Computing & Games. He also serves as an Innovation Technician (Cyber-Physical Systems) at the Industrial Digitalisation Technology Centre (IDTC). Balota holds a Master's in Computer Network and Security (2015) and a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering (2021) from Leeds Beckett University. His research focuses on IoT, wireless sensor networks, digital twinning, and industrial digitalisation, particularly aiding SMEs in transitioning to Industry 4.0. He leads or collaborates on projects such as OptiWare (Innovate UK-funded), PROGRESS, and a KTP project, securing over £600,000 in research funding.

Research Interests: Balota’s work emphasizes IoT-linked devices, end-to-end development solutions, and leveraging technology for SME digitalisation. He has published on latency prediction in IoT/WSNs and brokerage systems for low-power networks.
