Joshua Steimel is an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering, California Polytechnic State University, Humboldt. He holds a PhD and BS in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT. His research focuses on Bioassay Platform Development, Biomechanical Studies, and Emergent Actuation. He teaches courses such as ENGR 115 (Introduction to Engineering), ENGR 330 (Mechanics and Science of Materials), ENGR 322 (Risk and Data Analysis for Engineers), and created specialized courses like ENGR 492B (Mechanical Engineering Capstone Design I and II) and ENGR 498 (Polymer Physics). He has developed Open Educational Resources (OER) textbooks for these courses, available on LibreTexts, and supplementary lecture videos on YouTube.
