Joshua Schrock serves as a Research Assistant Professor (Affiliate) in the Department of Anthropology at Northwestern University, where he bridges biological anthropology and public health through research on social determinants of health and physiological outcomes in marginalized populations.
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology from the University of Oregon (2020)
- M.P.H. in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from Emory University
Dr. Schrock's primary research investigates systemic inflammation and health disparities among young men who have sex with men, trans women, and non-binary individuals through the RADAR project at the Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing (ISGMH). His work examines how social contexts influence physiological processes, contributing to critical understandings of health inequities in sexual and gender minority communities. This research integrates biological anthropology with public health frameworks to address real-world health challenges.
Based at 625 N Michigan Ave, 14th floor in Chicago, he actively collaborates with ISGMH on longitudinal studies examining the intersection of social environment, biology, and health outcomes, with implications for targeted interventions in vulnerable populations.
