Joshua Osterberg is a Lecturer in the Division of Marine Science and Conservation at Duke University, based at the Duke Marine Lab in Beaufort, NC. He holds a Ph.D. from Duke University (2010). His research focuses on environmental toxicology, genomics of pollution adaptation, and marine biodiversity for drug discovery. He has studied pollution impacts on fish (e.g., Fundulus heteroclitus) and genomic responses to contaminated environments.
Research interests include:
- Ecotoxicological effects of pollutants on marine organisms
- Genetic mechanisms of pollution tolerance in estuarine species
- Marine natural products for pharmaceutical applications
Recent work analyzes embryonic development in polluted environments and genomic signatures of adaptation in killifish populations. His studies bridge environmental science, genomics, and marine conservation.
No scientific awards are explicitly listed. He advises no students in listed publications. His work is affiliated with Duke Marine Lab and Grainger Hall facilities.
