Dr. Joshua Mora is the Joachim Endowed Professor of Spanish at Wayland Baptist University (WBU), where he has taught since 2000. He holds a Ph.D. in Spanish with a minor in English from Texas Tech University (1994), specializing in Chicano Studies. His dissertation focused on themes of justice and injustice in Mexican-American playwrights.

Research interests include Chicano literature, migration narratives, and language pedagogy. He pioneered Arabic online courses and American Sign Language programs at WBU. Mora’s advocacy for students mirrors his own background as a migrant worker’s child from Juárez, México.

- Piper Professional Award nominee
Advises Alpha Mu Gamma (foreign language honor society) and the Catholic Students Association, which he founded in 2003. Organizes biennial Spanish study tours to Costa Rica. His work emphasizes preparing Spanish majors for certification (LOTE) and supporting first-generation students.
Labs/Teams: Leads interdisciplinary initiatives in language education and cultural outreach.
