Dr. Joshua Lynn is a Lecturer in Global Change Ecology at the University of Manchester, affiliated with the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. He specializes in understanding ecological responses to climate change at multiple scales, focusing on species distributions, species interactions, and physiological scaling. His work integrates observational, experimental, and theoretical approaches to address critical questions in predictive ecology.
Education: BSc in Biology and Philosophy (Syracuse University, 2013), PhD in Ecology (University of New Mexico, 2019), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Bergen (Norway). Joined the University of Manchester in 2022.
Research interests include biogeography, community ecology, and the impacts of environmental changes on plant-animal interactions. He explores how abiotic factors like temperature and soil nutrients interact with biotic factors like herbivory and symbiotic relationships to shape ecosystems. His work contributes to Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and biodiversity conservation.
Recent publications highlight studies on herbivory patterns, plant-fungal symbiosis under warming, and the ecological consequences of climate-induced shifts in species distributions. He actively participates in editorial roles for journals like Ecological Monographs and Nordic Journal of Botany.
