Joshua Javier Guzmán is an Associate Professor in the Department of Gender Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he also serves as Vice Chair of Graduate Affairs and Director of the LGBTQ Studies Program. His academic work bridges performance studies, queer theory, and Latina/o cultural studies, focusing on the intersection of aesthetics, activism, and resistance.

His research explores the politics of style, queer Latinidad, and critiques of systemic state violence, particularly in post-1968 Los Angeles. He co-edited the special issue "Lingering in Latinidad: Aesthetics, Theory and Performance in Latina/o Studies" for the journal Women and Performance: a journal of feminist theory.
