Joshua J. Obar

Joshua J. Obar is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College in Lebanon, New Hampshire. He serves as the Associate Director of MCB and leads the Obar Laboratory, which focuses on pulmonary immunology and host-pathogen interactions in respiratory infections.

Dr. Obar's research centers on understanding the mechanisms by which inflammatory leukocytes are recruited to and activated in the lungs during infections. His laboratory specifically investigates:

• Pulmonary immune responses to Aspergillus fumigatus fungal infections
• The role of pulmonary mast cells in influenza virus pathology
• Virus-induced susceptibility to fungal infections

His work examines how pathogens interact with host cells across different isolates with the goal of developing novel therapeutic interventions for respiratory infections.

The Obar Laboratory maintains both current and former laboratory members, indicating an established research program with ongoing mentorship activities in immunology and infectious disease research.
