Joshua Hollett

Dr. Joshua Hollett is the Chair and Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Winnipeg, within the Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) from Memorial University of Newfoundland (2005), a Ph.D. (2009), and was an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian National University (2009–2012).

His research focuses on developing advanced computational methods for modeling electronic structure, particularly Natural Orbital Functional Theory (NOFT), and applying these to problems in molecular virology and organometallic chemistry. He also explores properties like momentum-balance and relative angular momentum to understand electron correlation. Collaborations span chemistry and biology at the University of Winnipeg, targeting drug-resistant hepatitis C mutations and viral protein interactions.

His articles span computational virology, organometallic chemistry, and methodological advances like the ΔNO approach. Research is conducted in the Quantum Chemical Theory and Simulation Laboratory (qctsl), emphasizing cumulant functional theory and two-electron density functionals.

Dr. Hollett advises graduate and undergraduate researchers, including MSc and PhD students. His lab fosters an inclusive environment adhering to a strict code of conduct.
