Joshua Gibson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Georgia Southern University's College of Science and Mathematics. Holding a PhD from Arizona State University, he focuses on the genetic and evolutionary basis of insect phenotypic traits that drive speciation through reproductive isolation mechanisms. His work combines genetics, physiology, and behavior to study trait evolution in insects.
Research highlights include:
- Investigating metabolic deficits in hybrid wasps/bees
- Genetics of invasiveness in ants
- Collaborative genome projects
He teaches Cellular and Molecular Biology, Honors Principles of Biology I, Evolution, and Bioinformatics & Biotechnology courses.
