Dr. Joshua Fairbanks serves as an Assistant Professor and Department Chair of the Department of Medical Sciences at the University of Saint Francis, leading the Physician Assistant Studies Program and Doctor of Medical Science Program within the College of Health Sciences. He holds a DMSc in Medical Education from the University of Lynchburg (2019) and advanced degrees in Higher Education Administration (MBA 2023, MOL 2022) and Physician Assistant Studies (MS 2017) from the University of Saint Francis, complemented by a BS in Biology (2014).
His research focuses on Pathophysiology, Immunology, and Medical Education, with specialties in Student Success Strategies, Grit, Growth Mindset, and Strategic Leadership. He actively contributes to academic leadership through presentations on topics like leadership theories, student persistence, remediation strategies, and active learning techniques. His work emphasizes fostering resilience and engagement in both students and faculty.
As an administrator, Fairbanks oversees program development, operational excellence, and faculty growth, prioritizing a culture of inquiry and transformative learning.
