Joshua Bellin is a Professor of English at La Roche University, where he has served since 1999. He co-directs the Sustainable Interdisciplinary Studies Program and founded the Eco-Council and National Novel Writing Month Club. He has held leadership roles, including Director of the Honors Institute (2008-2011).
Education: B.A., Wesleyan University (1987); Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania (1995).
Research focuses on environmental literature, Native American literature, and film studies, with notable works including Survival Colony Nine (2014), Medicine Bundle: Indian Sacred Performance and American Literature (2008), and The Demon of the Continent (2001). Current projects include essays on Thoreau and study abroad initiatives.
Awards include the Brother Gregory Nugent Award for Teacher Excellence (2008), Faculty Scholarship Grant (2006-2007), and Herbert Ross Brown Prize (2005).
He has developed courses in film, environmental literature, and Native American literature. His grants and recognitions highlight contributions to interdisciplinary education and environmental ethics.
