Josh Wallach

Josh Wallach is Associate Dean and Master Lecturer in the College of Sciences at Old Dominion University. Based in Norfolk, Virginia, he focuses on undergraduate chemistry education, faculty development, and sustainable polymer research.

Research & Scholarship

Wallach’s scholarship centers on renewable and biodegradable polymers, especially poly(lactic acid) (PLA). His work explores chemical recycling routes to recover valuable macromonomers from PLA waste, investigates copolymer systems incorporating itaconic anhydride for tunable material properties, and examines fundamental degradation mechanisms in commodity polymers such as PVC.

Teaching & Educational Innovation

As Master Lecturer, he directs high-impact undergraduate research experiences, integrates technology in the classroom, and mentors first-year students in original research presented at national ACS meetings.
