Josh Moore

Josh Moore is an adjunct faculty member at Georgia State University College of Law and serves as Appellate Director for the Office of the Georgia Capital Defender. With over 15 years of specialized experience, he represents indigent defendants facing capital punishment in Georgia through both trial and appellate proceedings, bringing real-world criminal justice expertise to legal education.

Moore earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School. Prior to his current roles, he spent five years as a trial and appellate lawyer at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, beginning his death penalty work in 1989.

His professional focus centers on criminal law with deep specialization in death penalty litigation, appellate advocacy, and constitutional challenges within capital cases. Moore's work emphasizes effective representation standards and systemic issues in capital punishment, bridging practical defense experience with academic instruction.
