Josh Hope-Collins is a Research Fellow in Computational Mathematics at Imperial College London's Department of Mathematics, part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. He focuses on numerical methods for fluid flow simulations, particularly parallel-in-time methods for atmospheric and climate models. His work improves simulation efficiency using high-performance software like Firedrake and the asQ library he leads. He collaborates with Professors Colin Cotter, David Ham, and Jemima Tabeart on projects funded by the UK Met Office through ExCALIBUR initiatives like APinTA and SysGenX.
Education includes a DPhil (PhD) in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford (2018-2022), an MRes in Gas Turbine Aerodynamics from the University of Cambridge (2017-2018), and an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London (2013-2017).
Research interests emphasize parallel computing for geoscientific models, data assimilation, and low Mach number flow analysis. He develops practical implementations of parallel algorithms, including the ParaDiag-II method class. His software contributions enhance real-world applications in weather prediction and climate modeling.
