Josh Andres

Josh Andres is a Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University's School of Cybernetics, where he co-leads initiatives in Diversity, Belonging, Inclusion, and Equity. His research explores human-computer interaction through three primary domains: novel interactions with emerging technologies, more-than-human design, and body-centric computing.

Dr. Andres develops multisensory systems and design frameworks that facilitate experimentation with future technologies, with applications in human-machine integration, sustainable design, and embodied interaction. His methodological approach combines research through design, postphenomenology, and qualitative methods including thematic analysis and ethnographic studies.

With over 45 publications in top HCI venues and 23 granted patents, his work spans human-AI interaction, ubiquitous computing, and bodily-integrated play. He develops prototypes ranging from everyday objects to installations that enable inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable interactions with technology.
