Joseph Woo, MD is the Norman E. Shumway Professor and Chair of Stanford Medicine's Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Associate Director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute. His work focuses on complex heart valve repairs, thoracic aortic surgery, heart/lung transplantation, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. In 2022, he pioneered a groundbreaking beating-heart transplant procedure using donation after circulatory death (DCD) donors.
