Joseph White is the Luxenberg Family Professor of Public Policy and Professor in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine. He serves as Director of the Center for Policy Studies and former Department Chair (2003–2015). His roles include editing the Beneath the Surface section of the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law and convening the Friday Public Affairs lunch discussions.
- Education: A.B. in Political Science (University of Chicago), M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science (UC Berkeley)
Research focuses on federal budgeting, health care policy in advanced democracies, cost control, Medicare/Social Security, and congressional politics. Recent work addresses the federal budget process and electronic medical records. He testified before the U.S. Congress Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform in 2018.

Teaching includes courses on U.S. political systems, health policy, and public administration. Serves on academic committees and editorial boards. Oversees the Center for Policy Studies, organizing special events and interdisciplinary discussions.
