Joseph W. Agnew

Dr. Joseph W. Agnew is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio), where he also serves as Director of the Observation/Short Stay Unit at the South Texas Veterans' Healthcare System since 2018. He holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine (2015) and completed his Internal Medicine residency at UT Health San Antonio (2018).

His professional interests include rural medicine, hospital medicine procedures, critical care, protocol development, patient safety, quality improvement, resource management, length of stay optimization, patient communication, resident wellbeing, burnout prevention, and medical education.

Dr. Agnew has been recognized with the Cleveland Clinic's 'Resident of the Month Award' in December 2015. He currently serves as Medical Director of El Campo Memorial Hospital, focusing on rural healthcare challenges. His work emphasizes improving healthcare efficiency and patient outcomes through structured protocols and resident mentorship.
