Joseph Pisegna

Joseph R. Pisegna is a Professor-in-Residence in both Medicine and Human Genetics at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). His research primarily focuses on Gastroenterology, Molecular Biology, and Genetics, with specific interests in gastrointestinal hormonal regulation, microbiome studies, and metabolic liver diseases.

Pisegna's recent work has explored machine learning applications for pancreatic cancer detection, gut microbiome influences on obesity and liver disease, and neuropeptide mechanisms in appetite regulation. His publications span gastroenterology, molecular biology, genetics, and medical informatics, with increasing emphasis on multi-omics approaches and single-cell RNA sequencing.
