Joseph Marvin Imperial is a UKRI CDT Doctoral Researcher at the University of Bath's Department of Computer Science, pursuing a PhD in Accountable, Responsible, and Transparent AI (ART-AI). He holds concurrent roles as Senior NLP Researcher and Faculty Member at the National University of the Philippines (on study leave) and Research Fellow at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) - Philippines. His research focuses on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning, particularly in Controlled Natural Language Generation, Low-Resource Models, and AI Benchmarking.
Education:
- Master of Science in Computer Science (2021): Exploring Hybrid Linguistic Feature Sets for Filipino Text Readability
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (2018): Recurrent Neural Networks for Sentiment Analysis of Typhoon-Related Tweets
Research Contributions: Joseph's work includes the Standardize project (EMNLP 2023), SEACrowd Project (ACL 2023), and BasahaCorpus (EMNLP 2023). He collaborates with the BathNLP group and serves as a reviewer for top conferences like NeurIPS, ICLR, and ICML, earning Outstanding Reviewer awards at ICML 2024 and ACL 2023.
