Joseph Hennawi

Joseph Hennawi is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He specializes in cosmology and astrophysics, focusing on dark matter, gravitational lensing, cosmic microwave background radiation, and the intergalactic medium through quasar absorption line techniques.

His research bridges observational data analysis and theoretical cosmology, utilizing large-scale digital sky surveys to identify rare astrophysical laboratories. He leads the ENIGMA research group at UCSB, dedicated to studying diffuse gas in intergalactic and circumgalactic mediums.
