Joseph D. Blackburn is a Professor and former Acting Dean at Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management. His expertise spans Operations Management, focusing on time-based competition, sustainable supply chains, and inventory systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Stanford University (1971), an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin (1964), and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt (1963). Prior to academia, he worked as a Chemical Engineer at Eastman Kodak.
Research Interests: Blackburn is globally recognized for pioneering work on time-based competition in manufacturing and sustainable supply chain strategies. His work integrates operational efficiency with environmental and economic sustainability, addressing challenges such as inventory optimization, remanufacturing policies, and perishable product management.
