Brooker's research spans Modernism, Irish Literature, 20th Century British Writing, and US Fiction, with signature expertise in James Joyce, Flann O'Brien, and post-1980s literary culture. His work combines textual analysis with cultural history, examining intersections between literature, politics, and social change.

Recent scholarship shows growing engagement with Flann O'Brien's legacy and transatlantic literary connections.
