Dr. Joseph Ametepe serves as Interim Dean and Professor of Physics at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). With 15+ years of experience, he previously chaired the Physics Department at Hollins University for a decade. His expertise spans biological physics, interdisciplinary science education, and UV light technology for pathogen destruction.
- Education: Ph.D. in Applied Science (College of William & Mary), M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics (Hampton University), B.Sc. in Mathematics (University of Science and Technology, Ghana)
Research focuses on computational photon-pathogen interactions, UV light source design for water purification, and interdisciplinary science education. He holds two patents and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. Notable awards include Hollins University's Distinguished Service Award and Herta Freitag Legacy Award. Beyond academia, he is a third-degree black belt in taekwondo and passionate about soccer and gardening.
