Josep Soler Carbonell is a Professor at the Department of English, Stockholm University, with expertise in sociolinguistics, language policy, and multilingualism in higher education. He obtained his PhD in Linguistics and Communication from the University of Barcelona and has held academic positions at institutions including University of California San Diego, Oxford University, University of Tartu, and Tallinn University. In 2017 he became Docent in English Linguistics at Stockholm University and achieved full professorship in 2023.

At Stockholm University, he teaches sociolinguistics, language and gender, and intercultural communication at graduate and undergraduate levels, while co-supervising doctoral students in linguistics.
