Jose Romero is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Howard Payne University, where he has served since 2002, with a prior tenure from 1996 to 2001. He holds a B.S. (1987), M.S. (1989) in Mathematics from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. (1996) in Mathematics from Purdue University.

Romero's research focuses on mathematics, particularly in the extension of CR structures for noncompact CR manifolds, as evidenced by his doctoral dissertation. His academic interests also extend to applications of mathematics in game programming.
He has taught a wide range of courses, including Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Calculus series, Differential Equations, Abstract Algebra, Geometry, Probability and Statistics, and Numerical Analysis.
