Jose Luis Forneiro Perez

Jose Luis Forneiro Perez is a Professor at the University of Santiago, affiliated with the Department of Galician Philology within the Faculty of Philology. His research focuses on bilingualism, Galician-Portuguese philology, and Lusophone cultural systems. He holds a PhD from the Autonomous University of Madrid (1997) with a thesis titled Bilingualism in traditional Galician, supervised by Dr. Diego Catalán.

He is a core member of the GIVIUS Valle-Inclán Research Group and has previously contributed to GALABRA (studying Portuguese-speaking cultural systems) and GRAALL (analyzing linguistic and literary aspects in Lusophone regions). His work bridges historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, and cultural studies across Galician, Portuguese, Brazilian, and African contexts.
