معرفی
Jose Luis Falguera Lopez is a Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Anthropology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Santiago de Compostela. He holds a PhD from the same institution (1992) with a thesis on Ontosemantic problems of theoretical terms according to the structuralist conception, advised by Dr. Carlos Ulises Moulines. His research focuses on Logic and Philosophy of Science, particularly structuralist approaches to scientific theories, incommensurability, and representational semantics. He is affiliated with the Humanities Research Institute (iHUS) and leads the Episteme research group.
Key research interests include theoretical concepts, scientific models, ontological frameworks, and epistemic justification mechanisms. His work bridges formal logic with historical analysis of scientific revolutions, notably exploring phlogiston vs. oxygen theories and conceptual transitions in chemistry. Falguera also engages with Edmund Gettier's epistemological challenges and Zalta's abstract object theory applied to scientific fictions.
Publications span over three decades, consistently addressing representational semantics, model theory, and historical case studies. Though no awards are explicitly noted, his sustained contributions to structuralist metatheory and incommensurability debates reflect significant scholarly impact. He maintains active participation in academic conferences and peer review processes for THEORIA journal.
