Jose Gil Longo

Jose Gil Longo is a Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), affiliated with the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology within the Faculty of Pharmacy. His research focuses on the physiology and pharmacology of chronic diseases, particularly the Central Nervous System and Oxidative Stress mechanisms.

He obtained his Doctorate from USC in 1990 with a thesis investigating vascular pharmacology mechanisms involving calcium signaling and vasoconstrictor agents, supervised by Dr. Francisco Orallo Cambeiro.

His research groups include FIFAEC (Physiology and Pharmacology of Chronic Diseases) and Pharma SNC-EO (Pharmacology of the Central Nervous System and Oxidative Stress). His work bridges pharmacological interventions with cellular mechanisms in chronic pathologies.
