Jose G. Perez Ramos

Jose G. Perez Ramos is an Assistant Professor with joint appointments in the Department of Public Health Sciences, Center for Community Health and Prevention, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. His research focuses on community-driven approaches and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) innovations to address health disparities and sociostructural determinants of health in marginalized communities. He leads the PR Lab, which develops interventions like the Ana chatbot and ¡mZAP! mobile application to tackle environmental health risks and improve healthcare access.

Education: PhD in Translational Biomedical Science (2019), MPH in Public Health (2015), BA in Political Science (2005) from the University of Puerto Rico.

Research interests include health equity, ICT for public health, and disaster response. Notable projects address chronic disease management in Puerto Rican rural communities and pandemic-related health information equity. Awards include the Healthcare Business Academy Fellowship and Health Equity Scholar recognition.

He advises graduate students in health services research and public health programs, collaborates with institutions like the University of Puerto Rico, and leads interdisciplinary teams to advance health justice globally.
