José Rodrigues Gomes

José Rodrigues Gomes is a professor at ESMAE (Higher School of Music and Performing Arts) in Oporto, Portugal, teaching historical bassoon and chamber music. He also holds teaching positions at the Academy Muziek-Woord-Dans in Jette (Brussels) and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Belgium.

• Studied musicology, recorder, and historical bassoons in Portugal and The Netherlands.
• Focuses on the use of the dulcian in Portugal during the XVII and XVIII centuries.

Active as a performer, José collaborates with leading period instruments orchestras and ensembles, working with renowned musicians like Enrico Onofri and Laurence Cummings. He is a member of Capella Sanctae Crucis and principal bassoonist of Orquestra Barroca Casa da Música in Oporto.

Additionally, José works as a certified Life Coach and facilitates workshops on “Conscious Performance,” integrating Mindfulness, Embodiment, and Coaching techniques. His professional values include motivation, inspiration, transcendence, and connection.
