Jorge Otero, MD, MS, RDMS is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He holds an MD from Universidad Javeriana School of Medicine (1991) and an MS in Public Administration from NYU Wagner School of Public Service (2004). His residency was completed at Hospital St Raphael-Yale School of Medicine (1998).
Dr. Otero's research focuses on optimizing healthcare delivery systems through innovative methods like tablet echocardiography and decentralization strategies. He leads a Global Health Initiative within Yale's Cardiovascular Section, emphasizing cardiovascular disease management in underserved regions. Notable projects include hypertension control studies in the Dominican Republic and rheumatic heart disease screening innovations.
His awards include the Teacher of the Year Award (General Surgery, 2013) and the AMA Leadership Glaxo Welcome Award (1995). He collaborates frequently with Bernardo Lombo and Lissa Sugeng on cardiovascular research initiatives.
