Jorge Marchand is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Washington, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. He is currently accepting new graduate students and leads the Xenobiology Lab (Marchand Group) focused on innovative research in nucleic acids, xenobiology, and synthetic biology.

Research Interests: Dr. Marchand’s work spans chemical biology and synthetic biology, with a particular emphasis on nucleoside natural products and their applications. His research in xenobiology explores novel genetic systems and nucleic acid-based innovations, aiming to expand the boundaries of life science and biotechnology. He integrates interdisciplinary approaches to develop next-generation biomolecules and synthetic organisms, driven by both academic curiosity and potential industrial applications.
