Jorge Luis Bueno Alonso

Jorge Luis Bueno Alonso is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Vigo's Faculty of Philology and Translation, where he teaches Medieval English Literature and Film Studies. He directs the Linguistic Variation and Textual Categorization (LVTC) research group and previously served as editor of Selim: Journal of the Spanish Society for Medieval English Language and Literature (2016-2021).

His research bridges medieval literature and contemporary media, examining translational variations in Old English poetry and Shakespearean film adaptations. Bueno Alonso explores connections between literary genres and cinematic expression, particularly how historical texts are reinterpreted through modern visual media.

He received three AEDEAN awards for his Galician translations of medieval English classics. His scholarly contributions include four monographs examining Anglo-Saxon epic traditions and medieval poetic discourse. International collaborations include research visits to Edinburgh, London, and invited lectures at universities throughout Spain.
