Jorge Iriarte Franco

Jorge Iriarte Franco is a Spanish professor and neurologist at the University of Navarra, affiliated with the Faculty of Theology (Department of Systematic Theology). He is also a practicing Catholic priest and chaplain at the University of Navarra Clinic. His career spans clinical neurology, research, and academic leadership, including roles as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (2010–2014) and Vice-Dean of Research (2008–2010).

• Certified somnologist by the European Sleep Research Society (2012) and Spanish Society of Sleep Study (2014)

His research focuses on epilepsy, sleep disorders, and electroencephalography (EEG), with specific contributions to diagnostics, artifact removal in EEG, and neurophysiological mechanisms in Parkinson’s disease. His work bridges neurology and theological studies, reflecting his dual expertise.

Publications span neuroscience, sleep medicine, and clinical neurology, with frequent collaborations in journals like Brain, Neurology, and Sleep.
