Jordi Sort Viñas

Jordi Sort Viñas is an ICREA Researcher in the Department of Physics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), leading the Group of Smart Nanoengineered Materials, Nanomechanics and Nanomagnetism (Gnm3). He holds a Ph.D. from UAB (2002), specializing in magnetic materials and nanotechnology. His research focuses on advanced functional materials, particularly magneto-ionic systems, nanomaterials for energy storage, and magnetic nanomaterials with voltage-tunable properties.

Active in multidisciplinary projects since 2001, he has secured over 29 grants including ERC Advanced Grants and EU-funded initiatives like REMINDS (2023-2028) and SECURE-FLEXIMAG (2025-2026). His work addresses global challenges in data security, sustainable energy, and materials innovation, contributing to UN SDGs through advanced material development.

With 390+ publications (h-index 61, 13,948 citations), his research spans smart materials, magnetic multilayers, and defect engineering in nanomaterials.
